Everyday basics... they're truly the building blocks of a great capsule wardrobe.
Call them wardrobe essentials, closet staples, hero items... either way they're considered foundational styles that can form the basis of nearly any outfit.
Are they as exciting as a statement piece? No, of course not. But that's not their purpose. Their purpose is to be a backdrop of sorts to create a beautiful outfit.
These styles are reliable, will withstand the test of time, and make getting dressed as effortless as possible.
Now I love updating my closet with the latest fashion trends, but I also know the importance of having those everyday basics and classic go-to pieces that will make getting dressed a breeze.
Please allow me to introduce you to our newest everyday basics--
the Blank Slate Tops.
1. Dress up for a Professional Setting
Easily style your everyday basics for a more professional style.
Here I paired the classic black top with a pair of trouser pants, a belt, and a woven clutch.
You could easily add a chic blazer for added warmth or coverage.
2. Create a Casual, Everyday Outfit
Your everyday basics are more than just layering pieces! They can also be styled solo to create their own outfit.
In this case, you'll want to make sure you add extra accessories to make the outfit look 'complete.'
Definitely consider adding at least a belt or a purse, and don't be shy with the jewelry!
Here I styled the light mocha top with a pair of light wash denim, any color will work, and added a bag, necklace and cute heels for a dressier vibe.
I think next time I would add a belt, too.
3. Utilize as a Layering Piece
Style it solo or make it a great base layer, that's the beauty of everyday basics like the Blank Slate Top.
You can easily style this top as a light layer under your other favorite styles. Here, it's acting as added warmth under this lightweight denim top.
I'm loving the denim-on-denim trend this season, so I paired the look with my current favorite denim and western booties to really make the western vibe pop.
4. From Solo Styling to Layers
Just one more quick example featuring the espresso version of the Blank Slate Top.
Here I added a cream denim jacket, that can easily be removed from the look if you're inside or too warm.
Further proving this top is more than just a basic layer, it can make its' own outfits, too.
See how valuable everyday basics are to your closet?!
Your everyday basics can be worn with a myriad of different outfit combinations.
They are the pieces we can use repeatedly because they create the simple structure of a look – they can be a base layer but they can also create their own looks, just don't forget to accessorize!
