Outfits of the Week: Fall Layers to Love

What's New in Fall Layers

We've officially reached the unique fall weather that admittedly, isn't my favorite. I love fall, a crisp day with a cozy knit, but what I don't love is the combination of fall mornings and summer afternoons. I prefer some level of consistency.

For example, this morning when I was getting dressed it was 58 degrees outside, but the high of the day was 80. Talk about weather whiplash. I left the house in an outfit appropriate for the high of the day but froze all morning. Not ideal.

That can only mean one thing, it's time to break out the layers. Create a base outfit of your choosing and add your favorite layer, whether that be a blazer, cardigan, denim jacket, corduroy, leather... there are so many excellent options.

So, without further ado, let me present to you -

what's new to our fall layers collection.

MY CURRENT FAVORITE FALL LAYERS

1. Denim Jackets

Classic and timeless, denim jackets never go out of style. I love that they're available in all kinds of washes and cuts this year.

You can't go wrong with a flattering cropped fit but opt for a longer look for a something modern.

This cool jacket is mauve and I love how it adds a feminine touch to an otherwise masculine style of look. This jacket also comes in a stunning olive shade!

Perfect for pairing with everything from skirts to dresses, your favorite pants or even shorts, denim jackets are always a favorite transitional style.

2. Oversized Blazer

So trendy and chic, an oversized blazer is incredibly versatile!

You can easily make it professional for work or make it more of a casual, 'street style' vibe.

In an ageless design, this charcoal blazer features an oversized fit with delicate herringbone print for added dimension. It also features a double-breasted front with tortoise-shell buttons.

3. Leather Moto Jacket

Fall layers can never go wrong in the form of a leather moto jacket. I absolutely love the rich brown hue of this one in particular, and it's vegan leather, even better in my book.

With worn gold hardware and a somewhat cropped fit, this moto jacket looks fantastic when paired with dresses or skirts. Of course, it will always work with any of your favorite bottoms as well, in particular, denim is a classic combo.

But truly I love it paired with dresses, such as a the one shown here, because it offers a masculinity in opposition to the feminine florals. I love the interest that juxtaposition creates in an outfit.

This layer jacket is fully lined and would be a warm addition to your fall layers collection.

4. Corduroy Jacket

There are few things better than the shade of olive for fall. Maybe chocolate brown in my book, but otherwise olive takes the top spot in my favorite fall colors.

This olive green corduroy jacket is PERFECT to add to your fall layers collection!

Lightweight and easy to wear, this one pairs perfectly with all of your favorite neutrals or even a pop of color, to create a casual, everyday look.

I love the unique oversized pockets on this jacket and the gorgeous, and functional, tortoise buttons along the front.

5. Cozy Cardigan

Quite possibly the softest thing you'll ever put on your body, this open-front draped cardigan is so comfortable and cozy.

In a unique, blue-gray hue, this ideal addition to your fall layers collection features two front pockets for added functionality.

I love that this cardigan can be dressed up a touch, as shown here, with a light layer underneath and fun flare denim.

This style of cardigan also looks great with those trendy boxer shorts/pants or as cozy loungewear around the home.

I personally added this cardigan to my fall layers collection and I love wearing it around the house!

More Thoughts for the Perfect Fall Sweater

What's not to love about knitwear?

There are so many varieties to love. From pullovers to v-necks, turtlenecks to sleeveless - I truly love all styles of knitwear.

September is a great time to update your knitwear collection (okay, really any time of year!) but I love the classics listed above for their timelessness.
